Language: Scotland is an easy country to navigate around as English is the official language. However, you might have some trouble understanding the Scottish dialect, if you venture further north – but this is honestly part of the charm.
Currency: The official currency of Scotland is British pounds.
Best time to visit: The best time to explore the Scottish Highlands is during the summer months, where there is the most amount of sun, clear skies and longer days. However, if you are simply planning a trip to the wonderful capital of Edinburgh, I highly recommend it during spring, autumn or christmas too!
Solo travel safety: If I am being completely honest, Edinburgh is probably the city I have felt the safest travelling solo in Europe. As a solo female traveller, you won’t experience much unwanted attention, and you will find that most people around the city keep to themselves and let you explore on your own as you wish! And the same goes for the rest of Scotland! Scottish people are extremely helpful and kind, as you will quickly come to feel, once you head out on that road on your own.

With every corner you turn, you will experience new beautiful areas and charming streets. And in my opinion, Edinburgh is one of the best places to visit in Europe in autumn, as the medieval architecture only adds to the coziness of the autumn months!
