Denmark

Welcome to Denmark!

Famous for its picturesque coastal towns, innovative design, serene countryside – and hygge (the cozy, contented way of living and spending quality time with loved ones), Denmark is a definite must-visit for any traveller!

As a local, I’ve had the pleasure of exploring far beyond the well-trodden paths of Copenhagen, and I’m excited to share the hidden gems and unique experiences that this beautiful country has to offer.

Whether you’re dreaming of quaint coastal towns, stunning natural landscapes, or charming villages rich in history, this guide is here to inspire you to discover Denmark in a whole new way. From the rugged beauty of the Jutland peninsula to the serene islands of Funen and Zealand, there’s so much more to Denmark than its capital. So dive in, explore my blog posts, and get ready to see Denmark through the eyes of a local who knows and loves every corner of this incredible country!

What To Expect

Language: The official language of Denmark is Danish, which has many similarities with the languages of our neighborhood countries in Scandinavia. For this reason, it is mostly possible to get by in Norwegian or Swedish too! Most people below the age of 70 will know at least a basic level of English too – and since we are now taught it earlier and earlier in school, young school kids will likely be better than their grand parents!

Currency: The official currency of Denmark is Danish kroner (DKK). Only a limited amount of places accept euros, but it is possible to pay with card everywhere!

Best time to visit: The best time of year to visit Denmark is without a doubt during the summer. Denmark is at its liveliest and most beautiful in June through August, which is where you will get most sunny days and pleasant temperatures.

Solo travel safety: Denmark is a very safe country to travel in alone – possible one of the safest in the entirety of Europe. As with any place, however, you should always keep your wits about you in the major cities as well as late at night in some neighborhoods. Always do your research anywhere you go!
